Orphan Fairy Elf Planted April 26, 2011 Cortlandt, NY Many thanks to Baqash for this wonderful carve! The Box is planted at Hudson Highland Gateway Park on Sprout Brook Road in Cortlandt, New York. Click Here to print a trail map. The parking lot is on Sprout Brook Road. After you park in the parking lot you have to cross the road to get to the trail head. At the the trail head turn right onto the blue trail. After going up you come to a "T" of the blue trail loop. Go right. You will be hiking up with a view of the Sprout Brook landfill on your right. You will come to another "T" with a light blue blaze visible to the left, go that way to a viewpoint with a fire-ring (about 1/2 mile from the trailhead). From the low-point of the ring, go north about 30 steps, to your left and a little downwards is a tree with the remains of a stump next to it. The Orphan Fairy Elf used to be inside the dead twin but the remains are now wood chunks. On the uphill side of the stump, you should see a fist with a finger pointing uphill. You should look under the fist. Please replace the fist... You can go back the way you came OR take the blue trail loop (like Son of Mushroom and I did today) its about a 1.8 mile loop trail. Lots of nice trails here with nooks and crannies, maybe leave me something? Record your find at LbNA or AQ. CYA ON THE TRAIL!!!! |
